wav files are best

it'll work fine with reason etc as well with 'rewire'

the synths & efx that come with pro-tools will only work with pro-tools

If u r a beginner FL is about ur best bet producer edition. Just use it itself for a while till u get used to the layout once u start getting to grips with how to build tracks ( kick, snare, hats, percussion, bassline an synth patterns) then start lookin for sample packs these will give u different loops, kicks, fx etc! They have filled books on the whole process! It takes a long long time to get good with it!Best thing i could say to u is dont be too bothered about tryin to find that perfect sound cos u wont! Concentrate more on how u put the tracks together first an u will find that as u get better at doing tunes from start to finish u will be picking up what little things do like eq's n fx by just putting them on an messin with the settings! Or u could fly to england an pay a producer to make u a track!! :D

Practice at laying the blocks, listen to tunes u got from the intro n see how the build like kick n hat for 8 blocks then add another hat r percussion for 8 then bring in snare for 8 then maybe drum roll building for 8 then bring in bassline! Most dance is built on 8 to 16 blocks i like 8 mostly as i find doing nothing for 16 tends to drag on a bit but each to there own! Best bet is listen to some older classic stuff like early Mauro Picotto (Lizard/Iguana) or Ayla things like that! There wasnt as much going on with effects n things an them tunes r a bit more basic in there layout so its easier to hear when an where they r doing it! Try n imitate them n u will start to see how the whole thing goes together! :D
