is pro tools not more orientated towards recording bands.. thats what we were told in college...best of juts d/l a load of programmes till u find the one u like

you can use any sequencer to record a band, provided the loss of sound quality isnt too much in the recording, the soundcard would have more to do with this rather than the sequencer.....hence firewire....zero quality loss.
pro-tools works fine for bands or computer based music, & is the best from what iv seen
